GENEVA, Switzerland -- Sen. Blas F. Ople, a member of the executive committee of the InterParliamentary Union (IPU) based in this city, yesterday called for a new Bandung conference, ''a new global summit of Third World leaders to redefine the challenge of economic globalization in terms of social justice for the poor.''
He recalled that the Bandung Conference held in Bandung, Indonesia in 1955, gave rise to the non-aligned movement as a great moral force for the defense of the rights of the poor countries caught in the emerging Cold War, and the trade negotiating group known as the Group of 77 under the UNCTAD.
