IT'S OFFICIAL - DATA WAREHOUSING is back in vogue.
The ability to collect detailed information on customers and store it in a repository - the data warehouse - has bought this once outmoded IT concept out of the closet and onto the boardroom floor.
A couple of years ago retail companies, financial services firms and telcos didn't really have a full understanding of their customers.
They simply had information gathered from a number of disparate sources, including loyalty cards and ERP systems. Data warehousing implementations, therefore, languished.
