Atomic Kitten are Number One. Laura Craik despairs
THE song is unoriginal. The name is unoriginal. The hair is unoriginal. But yesterday, the three glossy-lipped, golden-streaked muppets that are Atomic Kitten got to number one in the charts - again.
Unlike their first chart-topper, Whole A gain, which was at least worth a singalong on a hen night, their latest effort - if you can call it that - is a risible cover of The Bangles' Eternal Flame, which was never a very good song in the first place, and certainly hasn't improved much since Susanna Hoffs crooned it in 1986.
