Jul. 30--With the help of a $40 million gift last year from mutual-funds manager Charles T. "Ted" Bauer, the University of Houston business school is hoping to become ranked among the nation's elite.
But a major component in pursuing that goal is still missing.
For three years, the business school has not had a dean. Instead, it has filled the post with interim deans.
The school is not alone. About 10 percent of the nation's 660 accredited business schools currently have openings for deanships. Experts say the main reason is that the jobs are so demanding and ...
