In a case with possible profound implications for President Bush's charitable choice program, the American Jewish Congress and the Texas Civil Rights Project have called on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to remand back for trial a case the District Court had dismissed in February. The case, which traces its origins back to the President's tenure as Texas Governor, involves a state-funded job training and placement program "permeated," the organizations say, by Protestant Evangelical Christianity, and is therefore unconstitutional.
