In an unwelcome refrain, business news books took a beating in June (- 29.59% ad pages/-25.57% ad revenues), whacking YTD ad pages (-26.80%) and ad spending (-23.90%) with double-digit losses, per Adscope. Only Pearson PLC's The Economist (+0.94%/+11.02%) and Success (+10.25%/+17.32%) escaped unscathed. Top earner McGraw-Hill's Business Week (-43.08%/-36.29%/$110M YTD)--which last year sold out 10 issues and once maxed out some printing equipment because an issue was so full--led the June swoon, with Time Inc's $101M YTD Fortune (-37.31%/- 28.15%) and Forbes (-19.68%/-28.15%) not far behind.
