2001 JUN 24- (NewsRx Network) -- by N.R. Saltmarsh, staff medical writer - Severely obese patients undergoing coronary artery bypass have four-year survival rates similar to normal-weight patients, despite more complications immediately after surgery, say researchers in Germany.
J. Ennker and associates found no good reason to delay heart surgery until obese patients could lose weight, especially since they reported a better quality of life following surgery.
