Ford Motor Credit Co.'s collection efforts directed against the wrong people didn't constitute libel or invasion of privacy, although its pattern of conduct may deserve a reprimand, a federal judge in Minneapolis said.
U.S. District Judge David Doty dismissed claims by Anthony and Ann Bauer for defamation, infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy. Earlier, Ford Credit won dismissal of related allegations of unfair debt collection practices, deceptive trade practices, harassment and stalking.
