Dow Jones Newswires announced today that it began publishing its first index measuring fiber optic bandwidth prices.

The new index, the first of several that will make up the Dow Jones Fiber Optic Indexes group, will track prices for New York to Los Angeles, one of the most frequently used bandwidth routes.

Dow Jones Newswires will compile and provide oversight of the indexes. Data for the initial New York to Los Angeles index is supplied by seven companies that all trade fiber on a firm delivery basis and have been submitting weekly prices for long-haul ...
