International companies have submitted bids for the Baghdad loop railway line contract. The technical offers were handed in to the Transport Ministry on 20 May.

The loop line will be based on the designs made almost 20 years ago by Italy's Societa Tecnica Internazionale (Sotecni), but the selected candidate will be required to update the plans as part of the complete turnkey project, which is scheduled to take 54 months.
