Colombian macro-economics may not be a bed of roses just now but Colombian companies have posted generally respectable first semester 2001 results: the cement sector posted the best profits, Argos reporting Pesos$48bil-plus, whilst sales are up across the sector 20% (despite a fall of 5% in volume); the beverages sector performed less well with Cerveceria Aguila and Malterias de Colombia both registering significant falls in sales (down almost Pesos$40bil and Pesos$17bil respectively) but this was due to the strike at Bavaria ...
