MILWAUKEE _ Former Padres outfielder Eric Owens made a name for himself in San Diego by crashing into walls. But doing so with the Marlins has landed him on the disabled list for the first time.
Owens was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday and returned to South Florida to undergo an MRI exam on his right knee, injured when he collided with the wall at Milwaukee's Miller Park while trying to field a fly ball in the sixth inning Wednesday.
The Marlins filled Owens' roster spot by calling up outfielder Chad Mottola from Triple A Calgary. Mottola, 29, is a 1989 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High in Fort Lauderdale and was the fifth player selected ...
