Has a pop treatment of classical music ever converted a diehard rocker to the other side? Think of "Classical Gas," most of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, or Wendy Carlos's "Switched on Bach," which at least were popular fun. Likewise, has a symphonic treatment of rock ever convinced classical music lovers or rock fans of the merits of the other's music if they didn't already care? What did symphony orchestras playing the Beatles or the Rolling Stones do for anyone? It's hard to tell where the audience is for this kind of thing.
