Introduction
Looking back to my childhood, I recall a vague disappointment when I considered that an Ontario background held little promise for uncovering castles and knightly ancestors. Several factors changed my outlook during my teenage years, leading me towards a greater appreciation of my North American roots and the 19th century in particular.
Old family books with family data inscribed carefully in rare spaces, aroused my curiosity about these long gone relatives born in the late 18th century and in the early 19th century.
