A traveller's tale
After South Africa and Kenya, The Gambia rates as the third most popular African holiday destination for British tourists. On a recent visit to the region, Stephen Williams took the opportunity to discover just what the attractions of this small West African nation.
When I discovered that for the equivalent of the price of a scheduled airline flight from the UK to Dakar or Bamako you can take a week's package holiday to The Gambia, it looked like a sensible option. I had never been to The Gambia before, or even taken a charter flight anywhere, so it would be a new experience.
