Aug. 6--Nita Bishop of Duncanville recounts her purchases from the weekend: 18 shirts, six pairs of shoes, two dresses and two handbags.
That's $700 by Sunday morning. Everything but the handbags was tax-free.
"I made the Red Apple for two days," she said, referring to the sale at Foley's. "Now I'm coming to the Dillard's sale."
The official numbers aren't in yet, but retailers said that despite widespread concerns about the slowing economy, Texas shoppers turned out in force over the weekend for the state's third annual sales tax holiday. From Friday ...
