Aug. 7--Mazuma Credit Union has received regulatory approval to expand its field of membership to anyone living or working in Jackson County.
The former Federal Employees Credit Union has 50,000 members. The expanded field of membership will allow it to open its ranks to thousands of potential new members.
Under the Credit Union Membership Act of 1998, federally chartered credit unions are allowed to serve more than one employer group. The legislation was enacted in response to a Supreme Court decision that year limiting credit union membership to groups sharing ...
