A federal judge has upheld an arbitration panel's $8 million award to a group of Denver investment bankers who were fired at Hanifen Imhoff Holdings and forced to sell their private company stock at a steep discount.
``It's been a long and arduous battle,'' said Steve Leatherman, 54, who once headed Hanifen's merchant-banking division. He was the first fired worker to file a lawsuit in 1997. Leatherman's share of the award is $2 million, with interest.
Seven other executives and brokers filed similar lawsuits against founder Walt Imhoff and several of Hanifen's top officers, claiming they were fired in 1996 without cause to ...
