GALLIPOLIS, Ohio -- A fire that destroyed four historical buildings in the downtown business district of this Ohio River city was still smoldering Sunday.
The fire, two blocks south of city hall, started about 5 p.m. Saturday and destroyed a clothing and sporting goods stores, a clothes imprinting shop, and an insurance building.
Stephen Wilson, 911 director for Gallia County, said authorities believe the fire started at Haskins-Tanner Clothiers and spread north to the adjacent buildings.
