Federal investigators are said to be casting a wide net in a probe of Boston's fish-buying industry after executives at Legal Sea Foods told the FBI their former chief buyer may have been taking kickbacks from fishermen and fish brokers, sources told the Herald.
Arthur Kloack, a 13-year employee of Legal Sea Foods, has been suspended without pay by the company after an internal audit turned up "irregularities" in the buying of seafood, according to sources.
They said the ongoing federal probe, which goes beyond Legal Sea Foods' concerns, looks at possible kickback schemes involving buyers and sellers from other companies.
