Finding something genuinely new to say about such a 'canonized' cultural 'giant' as Jose Marti is never easy, especially when there are new 'canons' to challenge the old (in this case, postmodernism, which, predictably, runs throughout many of the attempts to 're-read' and challenge). Moreover, when the volume in question is the result of a centenary conference the collection can all too easily risk repetition and incoherence. Rodriguez Luis's excellent Introduction, therefore, promises much, eschewing ...
