IT was made 42 years ago in black and white - and is having the last laugh on a list of distinguished challengers.
Experts have chosen Some Like It Hot as the funniest film in cinema history.
From an initial list of 500 nominated titles, members of the American Film Institute picked the 100 movies they felt had raised the most laughs.
And it was Billy Wilder's classic - starring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis - which stole the show.
Completing the top three are Tootsie, starring Dustin Hoffman, and Stanley Kubrick's black comedy Dr Strangelove.
