Spurned by their first choice for chief executive, Mount Sinai Medical Center trustees have launched a national search for a new leader.
A search committee headed by Citigroup executive Robert Rubin and Henry Kravis of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. is seeking a physician or academician to head both the hospital and the school of medicine.
The search was triggered last week, when Dr. Arthur Rubenstein, dean of Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a prominent endocrinologist, announced he was leaving Sept. 1 to become dean of the more prestigious School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.
