Aug. 12--Intel touts Aug. 12, 1981, as the day the PC was introduced, not everyone agrees with the chipmaker.
This anniversary does not require a card or flowers, and a big dinner is certainly unnecessary.
The guest of honor however, may appreciate a quick byte.
According to chipmaker Intel Corp., the personal computer celebrates its 20th anniversary today.
In 1981, Intel collaborated with IBM to create one of the first PCs. The IBM machine, powered by the Intel 8088 microprocessor, sported a monochrome monitor, 64K of RAM and a 5.25-inch floppy drive. ...
