Don't hold your breath ...
At this time of growing euphoria about the brave new world of European defence, it is easy to get carried away by politicians promises of a rosy future in which everyone will get much more bang for their euro, thanks to joint planning, joint procurement, etc.
Though this may indeed one day be achievable, it is certainly not going to happen overnight. Even the French -- seen by many as the driving force behind moves towards greater European collaboration -- have their feet firmly on the ground concerning the real scope for a joint approach to European defence procurement over the next decade.
