AMERICAN SOYBEAN ASSOC. OPPOSES CFTC NOMINEE

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Soybean Association (ASA) has opposed the nomination of Margot Machol as a commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and has asked President George Bush to withdraw the nomination.

ASA first vice president and Virginia farmer M.N. (Buck) McCann told President Bush in a letter that soybean farmers are still angry over the apparent haphazard operation and regulation of U.S. commodity futures markets.
