The first day of classes at most colleges is less than a month away. And while I have another year to prepare for my son to flee the nest, others are out this very day stocking up on everything from BVDs to microwave ovens.
Bedrooms decorated with posters of Jennifer Lopez and Blink-182 are stacked high with boxes packed with all the necessities of life. And nestled between the pile of fresh towels and stiff, new bed sheets is a bundle of swelling emotions.
To all of you who responded to a plea a few weeks ago for advice on how to cope when sending a child off to school, or otherwise out into the world, thank you.
