Clothing is Backbone of Dayton Hudson's Men's Wear Biz
Tailored clothing is being perceived as the linchpin of the men's business as the 34-unit Dayton Hudson department store chain gears up for the looming invasion of Minneapolis by Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom.
According to Bill Hart, Dayton's men's vice-president, "For most department stores, clothing is just part of the overall assortment. For us, it's the core and the backbone of the men's business."
