RAISINS - The Fresno, CA-based Raisin Bargaining Association entered into an agreement July 23 that calls for a price of $880 per ton for this year's crop, a figure some growers said was far too low, according to The Fresno Bee. It nearly matches the price for the 2000 crop, $877.50, and comes three months ahead of the normal time for setting a field price for Raisins. The move to establishing a price so early is not unprecedented. In May of 1984, as industry prices dipped, the price for that year's crop was set at $700.
