A New England-style clambake may be the ultimate summer cooking experience. You can make a complete meal without ever leaving the beach - a culinary lifesaver in these, the dog days of August. And the cooking method itself, dating back thousands of years, is nothing short of ingenious. A huge pit in the sand is lined with beach stones, on top of which a fire is lit.
