Aug. 17--The Arkansas Public Service Commission on Thursday approved CenturyTel Inc.'s proposed optional calling plans, replacing plans the company said were costing it $2.6 million a month.
The changes will be made to CenturyTel's "Circle Saver" and "Extended Community Saver" calling plans. Those plans are used by about 16,000 customers, including 12,000 in Northwest Arkansas.
The plans, introduced in the early 1990s, let customers, primarily in rural areas, make unlimited calls to schools and doctors in nearby cities or call designated friends and ...
