BURLINGTON -- Children of all ages smile when the carousel goes round.
``It didn't go up and down, but it went faster'' than most other merry-go-rounds, said Katie Smith, 8, of Ballwin, Mo. She delightedly rode a zebra Thursday alongside her sister Molly, 3.
To the accompaniment of stirring melodies from a Wurlitzer Monster Military Band Organ, the stately menagerie of the Kit Carson County Carousel is marching toward a celebration Aug. 25 at the county fairgrounds.
The event will mark the completion of restoration of the carousel. Rides will be free from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., although they cost only a ...
