AUSSIES LOWER SOME FLOOR PRICES
NEW YORK -- U.S. woolen mills may get a slight price break on wool purchases under the new Australian wool floor prices.
Although the average floor price for the upcoming new 1989-1990 selling season remained unchanged from the previous season, which ended last week, some adjustments were made, including a 20-cent (Aus.) reduction on merino carding wools.
While these carding wools are only a small part of the total Australian production -- around 15 percent -- they are popular with U.S. woolen mills and are imported in a washed and scoured form for use in woolen fabrics.
