Inmarsat Launches Satellite Global Wireless Mobile Packet Data Service.(Brief Article)

Inmarsat Ltd. announced that it will launch a unique global mobile packet data service via satellite at the end of July for its world-class global area network (GAN) which currently offers business users up to 64 Kbps mobile ISDN connectivity for videoconferencing or the ability to access their corporate LANs at nearly seven times the speed of cellular/GSM.

The mobile packet data service is based on standard Internet protocol which most of the world's corporate IT packages use. It delivers data in packets optimized for use over Inmarsat's geostationary network of satellites and has been developed in collaboration with manufacturers, service partners, and distributors.
