2001 APR 27 - (NewsRx Network) -- The first effective treatment for mustard-gas burns - a development that has been sought since tens of thousands of soldiers were incapacitated by the gas in World War I - has been reported by an international collaboration of researchers.
The curative action of this novel and inexpensive iodine preparation was reported in a recent issue of the journal Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology by Drs. Uri Wormser and Berta Brodsky, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; Amnon Sintov, of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev; and Dr. Abraham Nyska, U.S. National Institutes of Health.
