According to a fact sheet distributed by the Coordinating Board of Higher Education in Missouri, 187 high schools in Missouri offered Advanced Placement (AP) courses in 1999, sixteen more schools than in 1998. In 1999, 5,447 Missouri students took 8,775 AP exams. These data reflect an increase of 13.3 percent over the number of AP exams taken and 12.5 percent over the number of students taking the exams in 1998. In 1999, 73.5 percent of the examinations taken by Missouri students scored a grade of 3 or higher on a five-point scale.
