Aug. 24--FORT WORTH, Texas--Many of the new jobs that would be created if Lockheed Martin wins the joint strike fighter contract this fall would be filled by switching personnel from older projects as they are phased out, the company said Thursday.
In a new detailed analysis of projected job growth in Fort Worth, Lockheed "conservatively" estimates that 13,500 people would be employed at the west side plant by 2005 if it lands the JSF program. Currently, Lockheed employs 11,500 people in Fort Worth, up 1,000 workers since January, spokesman Joe Stout said.
