Aug. 23--BELEN, N.M.--A hotel and convention center proponents say will help attract state and national conventions and boost city revenues is being proposed near I-25 west of town.
Belen businessman Herman Tabet plans to build a 65-room Holiday Inn Express with an 11,000-square-foot convention center seating up to 450 people.
The Belen City Council last week unanimously approved annexing seven acres of the 11-acre site at 2110 Camino del Llano west of I-25, across the street from the Best Western Inn.
