Will Nestle Buy up Scholler? Or is it Just `Cooperation?'
It sure sounded as if Nestle S.A., Vevey, Switzerland, was looking to buy out German ice cream maker Scholler. But when the news broke June 28 that Nestle was in talks with Scholler's parent Sudzucker AG, Nestle made out that it was only about "cooperation."
"We routinely and continuously hold talks with partners about things that are of interest to both parties," a Nestle spokesman said when asked about a German news report that Nestle was close to buying Scholler from Sudzucker. "Scholler is one of many companies with which we are holding talks," he added, declining to give more details.
