PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Fifteen years ago, Philadelphia gave birth to what is now an American institution.

On Oct. 15, 1974, the first Ronald McDonald House(R) opened its doors in West Philadelphia, providing lodging for families of children being treated for cancer, leukemia and other severe blood disorders at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
