India's industrial giant, Bharti announced it plans to invest Rs 1,500 crore (about $322 million) in mobile phone infrastructure in India. The Group, through Bharti Telecom, a joint venture with Singapore Telecommunications, won letters of intent for cellular licenses in the eight circles of Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, UP (West), Haryana and Gujarat in the recent governmental tender for fourth cellular licenses.
