F FUTURE passengers have a choice over which French airline to use within France and overseas, it will probably be because of the audacity and negotiating powers of Jean-Charles Corbet, a former Air France pilot and union official.

Corbet can lay claim to be the poacher turned gamekeeper. A one-time top official of the SNPL pilots union at Air France, he has become the "buyer" and supervisory board chairman of Air Liberte, the airline that went into receivership in June but which a commercial court last month gave a chance to fly again.
