Aug. 24--Now regarded as a secular decoration rather than a religious symbol, the Christmas tree appears headed for a comeback in Eugene city offices this holiday season.
City Manager Jim Johnson, whose restrictions on Christmas trees last year sparked a firestorm of criticism, said that this year he and his executive managers will be more flexible and give employees a larger role in deciding how and where holiday decorations are displayed.
