No Import Quotas in the Second Half of This Year

China will not issue any import quotas for low-tariff aluminum oxide this year.

In the past few months China has imported great quantities of tariff-exempt aluminum oxide processed overseas. As a result import quotas no longer have attraction. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation has already issued import quotas for 1.3 million tons of aluminum oxide and the import tariff rate is 8%, far lower than the normal tariff rate of 18%.
