Funny thing about physical rehabilitation - no matter how intensely you go about strengthening a body part that has been torn up, your mind cannot return to the way it was before the injury.
Matt Pagano knows. The senior St. Charles East right tackle says the sophomore-year broken femur and anterior cruciate ligament tear are behind him, and that the rehab process inspired him to want to study physical therapy in college.
The injury lingers in his mind's eye, though.
"I'm a little apprehensive on the defensive side," he says.
