Aug. 28--"Doing your own thing" has taken on a whole new meaning for many workers: More and more are opting for alternate work arrangements that fit better with their personal lives.
According to Marisa DiNatale, an economist in the office of employment statistics of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, "Perhaps the most significant finding (from a 1999 BLS study) is that more workers ... are choosing these arrangements."
