Vodka again proves itself reigning champion of spirits.
It's good to be king, and vodka is certainly king of the spirits world. Nationally, the category was up 3% last year, with sales of a little more than 36 million 9-liter cases. In control states, category sales were up 3.3% for the 12 months ended March 31st to more than 7.9 million mixed cases.
"Vodka continues to see strong growth," said Joanne Kletecka, group marketing director at AlliedDomecq, which markets Stolichnaya. "One of every four cocktails consumed is made with vodka, which really demonstrates its mixability and versatility."
