THREE new thermoplastic elastomer compounds have been formulated in the USA for medical tubing replacing latex and plasticised PVC. The compounds are additions to the Monprene line of styrenic block copolymers from Teknor Apex.
Grades MP 1580L1 and MP 1871-R, with Shore hardness ratings of 37 and 35 respectively, are formulated to replace latex, which has been observed to cause allergenic reactions in some health care workers and patients. The 1580L1 grade meets requirements for USP Class VI; the 1871-R for ISO ...
