The recently signed California budget includes $25 million in capital funds for the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology.
It is the second of four equal installments pledged by the state last year.
The institute, based jointly at UC San Diego and UC Irvine, has also inked agreements worth nearly $47 million with industrial partners, according to university officials.
The institute's industrial partners include Qualcomm Inc. and Applied Micro Circuits Corp. of San Diego; Intersil, Broadcom and Conexant of Orange County; and national and international technology companies like Microsoft, IBM, Sun Microsystems and ...
