The Xbox is developing a persistent image problem. It's also facing inevitable production pressure. And at least one major retailer is describing the console's upcoming launch as a struggle as well as an opportunity.
But the Xbox could be an immense success anyway. Nothing that has happened so far is much of an indicator about the machine's long-term potential.
